I was not expecting anything like this. I happened to look at radar and saw the smallest blip on the screen. Something told me that it was no ordinary blip. I drove down, and in the beginning I was mildly disappointed, but decided to stick around since I was hearing the rumbles of thunder in the distance.

I made the right decision! Because I was about to witness the birth of a supercell which happened to go tornado warned. The alarm was going off on my cell phone, and I was busy taking pictures and reporting on this beautiful beast in front of me. Looming closer and closer, it was sucking up everything in its path. The sheer bulk of this cell was creating tremendous amounts of wind, rain and hail. I did not see rotation, but it seemed to swirl as it passed by. It was simply beautiful! I am glad I went with my gut instinct and stayed for the show!
