Staying out of a hail core/rain core the reason for this is because depending on the size of the hail you will probably experience some degree of damage to your vehicle and that is not what I wanted. Although in this case, the hail was negligible at best with no more then an inch. And to keep ahead I had to drive through to capture some images, however if the hail were of a larger count that would not have been an option.
The core of a storm refers to the heaviest precipitation area of a cell, the strongest or violent part of this is at the leading edge of the storm or outer edge of the the updraft on the downdraft side of the storm. Extreme measures within will precipitate the hail to grow in size, which of course makes it very dangerous to be driving around inside of a core.
